William, sorry to hear of your tribulation with the tank. I am hoping my experience will be a bit different. My tank is all LPS and polyps, so lighting and flow less than an SPS tank. I clean the powerheads each day as part of the daily routine, so no big changes there.

Agreed. I have been pulling algae out on a daily basis. GFO is running 24/7 and changed weekly (way ahead of normal). I saw the picture of your sump with the 300W light. Wow. Considering an upgrade (not as extensive). I am concerned about dosing anything that encouraged the growth of macro...

I do have a Tuxedo Urchin in the display tak, who seems to chow on any film algae, but leaves the hairy stuff alone.

I can't rule out bryopsis. I have looked at pictures online to compare, and I sit uncertain.

Good question, I have a TDS monitor on the output that shows zero at start, mid and end of RODI production.

Interesting thought. I did add additional dry rock when I upgraded. I did a three-week soak in RODI, changing the water every three days, so hopefully that is not an issue.

A reasonable conclusion. Although, I do not see a change in water parameters when I do a huge removal. I do expect a significant shift if the H2O2 starts eliminating the algae, so am prepared for filtering and water changes.

I am running a fuge within my Trigger Systems Emerald 39. Very limited chaeto growth. I am not running an algae scrubber. I continue to run water tests and have no elevated phosphate, nitrate or nitrites.
