    Clownfish Pairing

Hi Kimmie, what should I look for in terms of a "shimmy". The female tends to chase the male and he flees/swims away. It's definitely not fighting back or anything. My untrained eye is probably missing some other signs. It was the March 2019 members frag swap when I picked them up from...

    Clownfish Pairing

Hi all, I did some searching about clownfish pairing and it sounds like this could be a long process, and that it could take 12-24 months for them to fully mature? Situation: I purchased a pair of juvenile Darwin’s from Kimmie at last year and picked them up at spring frag swap. They beautiful...

    Day Job?

The SFamateur astronomers club has permission to use Mt. Tam at night (they had a key to the gate) - bit I think that changed during COVID.. Even further, but Lassen is a pretty good place for viewing too.

    Thank you Red Sea AB+

So, is AB+ more like "vitamins" vs. Roid and Reef Chili are more like "foods"?

Yes, while the swings can happen quicker, and more drastically, water changes do not equal the brute/ rubbermaid trash cans that many of you deal with. A 5 gallon bucket usually gets me through for 2 weeks. Though this week it was rough... I had to make two 5 gallon buckets of salt water. ;)

A quick update. My chalice and monti that were bleaching are making a come back and the parts that were still alive have been coloring up. In addition to the extra carbon, I've been doing daily 10% water changes this week to try and clear whatever it was out of the system.

This may have already been asked, but has anyone looked at open source family tree/genealogy software that might be a starting place? It seems like a similar application just with corals vs people. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Green Hairy Mushroom

Hi all, my son picked a green hairy mushroom for me at the frag swap last year (he was worried someone was going to pick it [emoji16]. Well... now I have a lot of them. These are a purplish base with green tentacles. They get big (and multiply). Other than hair algae issue, no known pests in...

Pointers - looking into 3D Printing

Any particular features that contributed to the decision to pay for software? Thoughts on this vs something like Cura for someone that's just a newbie/hobbiest vs. someone that might be doing heavy 3D printing?

I could do that and just run my testing a bit more frequently in the short term to watch closely.

Ok. I’ll cut back on the amount of GFO that I mix in each month with my carbon.

Also, note that I did do my monthly replacement of carbon/GFO bag at the same time as the Monday maintenance. (usually about 2 Tablespoons carbon/2 tablespoons GFO).

I ran it twice this morning on my Hanna ULR Phosphorous checker and it read 0. (this was after one more water change from the Nitrates measure)

So, despite being careful, I think the pruning of the nuisance palys had a hit to my tank. I tried hard to clip off rock with a bone cutter that the paly's were on vs. the actual polyps. Having some recession/bleaching on a few corals (a newer chalice, a encrusting monti). Did a water...

Following.... like the idea of a supplement that helps growth, but has a lower impact on nitrates/phosphates. Running a small, skimmerless tank. So, this isn't something that's target fed, just add to the tank?

Maintenance day: - pruned back some junky palys (took bone cutters to the rock as much as possible), gloves, etc on for protection. Trying to get rid of them before they spead, and also wanted to make room for a new addition or two. - did another water change. I've been doing about a 15-20%...

    Randy’s bucket o’ fun (chalice)

Holy monster chalice Batman - That thing would be my entire tank. Looks really nice. Hope to grab a frag the next go around. Have added a bunch to the tank recently and letting things settle in.

Pointers - looking into 3D Printing

I may have ordered some stocking stuffers for the kids from adafuit, and a pi4 may have made it into the cart too..... Again, still planning on trying out of the box first before changing a lot of variables. It looks like the Enders come with the Cura (slicer?) but I can...
