    Nem Trouble

Broadcast feeding, but I stopped direct feeding my nems a couple years ago. I see it catch mysis and brine occasionally.

    Nem Trouble

Anyone ever have an anemone that “permanently” shrunk +90% and stayed that way? The below anemone has lived in two of my tanks, that are well established. When I picked it up from a friend it was roughly fist size. Since introducing to my frag tank, it shrunk to roughly the tip of a pinky...

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

12 days in on the test tank. A frag of the same monti that can’t survive in my display, is showing no signs of stress in a brand new 15 gallon tank with fresh rock. Crappy pic with no filter, I’ll upload a better one if it makes it to week three. The alk on this tank has swung from 8.5 to 13.4...

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

Thanks for the comment. I havent treated this tank with anything. The most I have done in the last 9 months is one water change like 5 months ago. Other than that it has been fuge and yanking cheato out. Fuge has sponges, feather dusters, and all kinds of life. The dark portion of the sump has...

Do you get dinos on fresh plugs? That is what this looks like right?

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

Test tank frags are still alive and show no signs of stress or necrosis. 10 days in. I had to remove the elegence coral from the display tank and place it back into the frag system. It has been shrinking slowly over the last two weeks. I’ve had that coral for 3 years, so I hope it starts to...

On average, how many times a day does food drop into your tank?

The display did trend closer, I noted that in my post. Meanwhile over the last week no3 has fallen and po4 has risen on the same tank. My only point was that those two nutrients rise and fall independently.

On average, how many times a day does food drop into your tank?

Yea, my intention was just to highlight that the two can be very independent. I assume my bacteria load is the cause of my phosphate depleting, because none of these systems have had water changes this year.

On average, how many times a day does food drop into your tank?

I test I test my nutrients very frequently. My experience is that PO4 will move independently of no3. Some days no3 is not changed and po4 will increase by 50%, or any number of combinations inbetween. Here are my charts. Maybe I should check my correlation coefficient sometime to see if it’s...

On average, how many times a day does food drop into your tank?

I test 3x a week. Keeping nutrients up is challenging and still being supplemented with dosing nutrients. Mid test right now actually

    Who doses phytoplankton? (Or has)

I dose 150mls per about 100 gallons for established systems. I am still dosing po4 and no3 on a doser to keep nutrients detectable, so take from that what you will. I am attempting to expand my operation, but right now it’s just homemade nanno. I am looking to get some tetraselmis cultures to...

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

Welp here goes the test. Not that great of a test but curious to see what happens.

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

I’m not sure yet. I think what I am going to do a little test and throw a green slimer in a brand new tank with fresh rock and seen what happens. I have the skill to keep an sps tank stable so maybe this will anecdotally atleast tell me this is biome related and not something I can control. Or...

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

I do bi-weekly tests with hand held and monthly ICP. I tend to act like I don’t have a salinity probe on my apex, it’s junk.

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

I appreciate it. I have a frag system that has rocks and sand in the sump that have been there a couple years. I added some zoas with their attached rocks (2-3lbs) each to the display from the frag tank as well. Even the zoas are not thriving. I’ve had this nem from once was legend for 6 months...

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

I took some rocks from the frag system and put them in the sump. I doubt it’s going to do much at this point. My frag system has its own problems but a rock from that system better than nothing I guess. I’ve kinda hit my wits end so I’m just going to let the tank coast for a bit.
