Zoanthus sansibaricus - Which is your favorite?

You might have issues posting photos here if you're on iPhone due to the file size. That's part of the site upgrade that's in progress. You can screenshot the photo then upload if needed or dump them into a Google drive folder and share the link.

Challenges in removing chloramine in RODI setup

Common in the pond world too. Keep in mind it's a carbon source so be careful.

    Thomas' CADE Reef 1500 S2

The clam holders are 3.25" long. Largest Maxima is just slightly smaller. The crocea on the left was added later and started about 1.5", now maybe 2.25".

These all started 1-2", never fed phyto. Just light and fish food/poop particles.

    Thomas' CADE Reef 1500 S2

Getting healthy clams seems to be the key I've found. The wild ones lately from Vietnam and Palau seem to carry the parasite. Mine have all been from ORA and trouble free, much like the older batches of clams like I guess Arnold's are/were. That plus blasting them with light (450+ umol of...

    IM 30L Long legs

For stability you might want to have the structure rest on the glass not the sand. If a fish or crab starts burrowing under a side it could collapse. You might be able to get away without the flat base rock too and put that low and to the right side to get more space to grow things. ...

questions on (lack of) airflow, cooling fans and other related matters

If you're having stale air issues, you can install an HRV unit. The practical example is a fart in an elevator. Turning on a fan won't reduce the smell, it's just going to spread it around. You need to open the door or a vent outside to exchange the air.

    Thomas' CADE Reef 1500 S2

Still doing monthly water changes. However ammonium bicarbonate dosing is helping keep nitrogen up. Almost no effect on pH at night though! Probably since they have gills and respire more than corals. I should do an ICP or something to check if anything else is depleting.

    2 parallel RO setup ?

I kept my two separate and have a drinking water reservoir for the one we use in the kitchen and spigot. No booster on that one and no resin, just a pre filter, RO membrane, and double carbon blocks. Reef system is 7 stage with dual membranes and the booster, only used manually when I open the...

    Activated carbon (GAC) quality differences

The cleanest I've used was the BRS ROX carbon, but you really have to contain it well since they're like candy sprinkles and get loose easily. They're definitely marked up way too much, so if anyone has an equivalent source let me know.

Just set up the InD aquatics PF4.

Thanks for doing that! I worked hard to have a near silent tank so hearing this thing loudly go off 5x a day would drive me nuts. Where do you have the output/food going? Also curious how many watts it pulls (figure it draws a lot more if it's in a hot cabinet).
