Anthias ID

So...

I bought 6 “bartletts anthias” from AC today. But, one of them looks to be a different species. I don’t think it’s just a male.

It’s the one on the bottom of the pic below.

It seems to have a longer/more elongated body, it’s top fin has two peaks instead of just one long one. It’s eyes are a bit bluer, and it seems to have more of a tiger stripy pattern to it. Still pink and yellow though.

They all hand out together, so the others at least except it as there own.

I’m a huge fan of Anthias, though by no means an expert.

It’s hard to tell because all look to still be pretty ‘juvenile’ in coloring and development. That said if I had to guess, I’d say it’s more related to the Pictilis / Waitei family (though it doesn’t seem to be exactly one of those).

The finnage (is that a real word?... it is now;) appears differently in your dude’s than in the Bartlett, Dispar, Ignitus family.

Correct. Unfortunately the bartletts already ousted it, so it’s Mia. Hopefully it’s hanging out in one of the many caves and not dead. [emoji29]
