Best time to test pH

As the title says, When is the best time to test the pH of the tank?

Before the lights come on, Mid day, after lights are off, doesn't matter?

I have heard and read several conflicting reports and just looking for a correct and sourced answer. Thanks!

Are you looking for the peak? If so, middle of your light cycle.
Are you looking for the lowest point? If so, middle of your dark cycle.

When you do it depends on what your looking for.

Get a controller and measure it ALL the time!

That way you don't have to decide.

My pH is lowest at the end of the dark cycle, highest at just about end of light cycle.

It might be useful to test both extremes to see what the swing is. Adding Alk (from 2part) or Kalkwasser during dark cycle can help reduce the swing.

Sounds like your tank doesn't get as much light as mine did... that's why I hit peak earlier.
