Brown algae on glass

Everyday I have to scrape the glass. Tank is about 5 months old.

What's the deal??

Do I have to bring an algae sample to @IOnceWasLegend to examine under microscope?

Sounds like diatoms maybe. What do you use for water? Check on silica. Is your entire photoperiod only 4 hrs?

That 4 hours is at its peak. Water is from one of those filter drinking water shop. What do you mean silica?

How long is total photo period?
Diatoms love Silica/silicates. Could be adding them in with source water

Diatom blooms can last a long time in a new tank. I'm not too surprised witha 5 mo old tank.

Could you take a pic of it tomorrow? I had been getting a lot of film algae cause I didn’t have enough snails, added to the CUC and the glass lasts longer between needing to be scraped
