Can I put zoas in between torches?

I rearranged my torch corals since 3 inches apart wasn’t enough room foe growth. This change leaves a. empty space. The torch tentacles will probably touch this area. What coral would be for ground cover? ai was thinking zoa but not sure. Anyone try zoas or something else?

Do shaded areas have PAR? I didn’t test it the last tome I had borrowed from the club.

What are thoughts on shaded areas for Zoas? or any other photosynthetic coral? Running out of ideas/placement for a few corals since the torches growing.

I tried. Torch tentacles keep the zoas closed and they shrink over time or melt outright

I use them in between acropora and other coral though, without issue. They seem to be able to resist strings on their outside skin, but if stung on their oral disc they seem to struggle a lot

I’ve put zoas under a shaded part and they just extend like crazy trying to get more light

Depends on the zoa, some can thrive in extremely low light shaded, while as @MarcosD said others will strech out.

Ones that may like shade could be those with extra small disks. Any with larger disk on longer stalks wouldn't be ideal.

Maybe there is a list of prime very low light zoas somewhere. If u search for it.

How about coral stilts to elevate the torches above the sand bed? Is there such a thing? This way I can have a place for zoas and other corals.
Maybe post a few full tank shots and people could recommend something. And circle the areas u wanna addresses or add things.

There are ways to elevate coals maybe adjusting rock structure or over all coral placement.

If you raise torches just have to make sure they aren't in direct flow.

I've also seen people use indirect directional flow to maken torch tenticals blow in a single direction to avoid near by corals. Can be done if your careful or it could possibly piss torches off. Kinda a balancing act of sorts.

Something like this would look nicer, and could be made pretty easy with regular marcos rock fused together as you like. With a few frag plug holders in different spots, or drill holes in the rock.
