Chiton!

I found one in my tank this morning! It's about an inch long. Are these guys good, bad, or neither?

It never ceases to amaze me how many new things keep turning up in my tank!

They are fine, they don't do very much except eat micro algae in their little surrounding area.

Some ppl have reported that they can actually damage acrylic once they get big enough. Haven't seen that myself though.

Chitons are awesome! I saw one in my tank yesterday as well!

Hmm, saw a pink and green one at the LFS a couple of days ago. I might just go back and grab it.

This guy rarely comes out but I got this photo a year ago when I was cooking my live rock. He is at least 5 years old now and about 3 inches.

Chitons are cool.

I had a kinda velvet black one that grew from 1/4" to about 1".

I've kept numerous species from HI, Baja, Bali, SI, PI and Atlantic and only one laid down some real nasty rasp marks on the acrylic. It was a real big one from Bali. You could hear it rasp at night.
