Hello, this is a thread for my 30 gallon tank journal, the early stages were not recorded as much because I was not thinking about it. I regret not taking more pictures of my tank earlier on. However, my tank is still pretty new, as of March 24, 2025, it will be about 1 month and 1 week old.

Nice hammer! One of my favorite corals
No, all the rocks to the right were dry rock. However, the left rocks with all the nems were from an already established tank. I added the nems and most of the corals a little over a week after the first picture. And I’ve been buying little frags no more than like $30 a piece to add every here and there. EXCEPT for the torch, I got the torch off this guy from Facebook market place for $70!!!(still wondering if I got scammed or not hahah, fortunately the head is already splitting)
Also for a disclaimer, everything in circled red, including the tank/sand was donated to me from my father's friend that unfortunately had to quit the hobby( his life got too busy). The light, a hydra 26 (non HD) was also given to me.
I only purchased the two wave makers, a heater, an ATO, a surface skimmer, the 2 clowns, the 3 chromis, CUC and the corals that are not circled.

What kind of torch did they tell you it was? For $70 it should be a named designer torch
So it was listed as "Purple Gold Torch". It looked super cool and "neon-y" green in the pictures. Here are the pictures that he sent me. To be quite frank, they do not look like that in my tank, however I still think they look somewhat cool. I've always wanted a torch and because it was going to be my first ever torch, I overlooked the size( also cause I was inexperienced with torches). I thought they would be a lot bigger, but they ended up being like the smaller in person( they are no bigger than an inch) and I was too shy to not purchase them after agreeing to meet up. But I got both heads for $70.
After being in my tank for 1.5 weeks, the left head is splitting.

I wouldn’t say you got scammed but not the best deal out there. I thought you had paid $70 for just a single head no name.
Also torches will look different under different lights/PAR/nutrients. I always try to see whatever I’m going to buy in person because pictures don’t show true colors especially if there’s any editing done. Also very different if you’re seeing it under blue lighting or with an orange filter. I’ll attach pics so you see what I mean
