First time testing

So I got my Salifert CA and KH/Alk kits in today. I am a bit overwhelmed. The tests are very difficult to use per their instructions

Right now my Ca is around 500 and my dKH is 9.3

Seems very high on both ends. Any input would be great, this is my first time in this section of water testing.
 
Calcium is a little on the high side but I wouldn't be concerned. I think the dKH is perfect but if you can bring it higher, even better!
 
I use the Salifert KH test. What issues are you having with it?

You don't have to add drop by drop for the first 0.4ml (0.6 on the scale) since you know your Alk is going to be higher than 6 dKH. I do two drops after that till I think I'm close, then do 1 drop at a time.

For the CA test...
I use the Hana checker. I don't feel I could recommend it. It requires a 0.1ml sample. I feel this is so small error can creep in. I've done three tests in a row on the same sample and had more than a +- 10% difference in the results.

Anybody use a CA test they get consistent results with?
 
After reading through the instructions 5 or 6 times and watching a few youtube videos, I finally figured it out. Thanks for the tips about not having to go drop by drop for the first .4ml
