FW dips

Just curious ... who does this for their fish anymore?
What are the benefits, IYO (in your experience), if there are any?
I assume a FW dip would knock off any external parasites, or flukes. But the dip also seems very stressful on fish.

I dip with Prazi-pro for flukes (tangs, basslets, angels etc.) and formalin for brook (clowns mostly), freshwater dips are sooo stressful on fish.

Yeah, I had the feeling freshwater dips were extremely stressful. I feel the benefits are not worth the possible side effects (death in a worst case scenario).
For Prazi Pro, how long do you do a dip for? Same concentration/dosage at the directions indicate?
Likewise with formalin (which from my understanding is pretty potent stuff!). What concentration, and for how long?
Thanks Tube!

I just go by the directions :D nothing fancy, the eye fluke thing was REALLY bad a year or so ago and has seemed to mellow out, during that time I was dipping like crazy and you would have been shocked at what I found at the bottom of the bucket, but who knows it could be a seasonal thing.

Anyway, I don't get too fancy since I really avoid buying wild clowns and poorly procured and shipped tangs/angels, that has really helped me avoid parasite problems.

Done it to treat ich.. best treatment hands down. Just be careful doing it. Formalin and prazy are just as stressful, IMO

Only dip fish for 4min. Bring the FW temp and PH up to what the tank is at, and you'll be fine. But the big thing, ONLY 4 minutes. The only fish I lost doing this was one I forgot and was in it for 10min... rip little guy. I still fee bad about that one,

good information can be found here.
