Google Apps for Small Business vs. Microsoft Office Live for Small Business?

Hi all,

What do you guys think would be the best solution for a small business?

Office Live has so many add-ons, i.e. advertising tools, tracking, etc. And of course, Office Live supports the whole suite of Office products. Their website development tools are plentiful as well. But I have issues with their lack of support and confusing log in process.

Google Apps, on the other hand, is brutally bare boned. That makes things simpler and reduces distractions, but it also doesn't have as much value-added as Office Live. Google's website development is quite sparse as far as tools go, compared with Microsoft. Furthermore, Google Docs doesn't "talk" very well with Office products; I can't just pull a Google doc and have it translated perfectly into Word, it always needs a bit of tweaking. The greatest perks with Google Apps are IMAP (which I feel is better than the "Outlook Connector" with Office Live), and the facts that Google is constantly finding new ways to improve their services and products. However, I must admit that Office Live does not seem like your typical Microsoft, do-it-our-way-or-we-step-on-you product.

Anyhow, what do you guys think about the two platforms? Keep in mind that our company is very small and the sole member of our IT staff was a political science major (me).
