Help Fragging Toadstool

Thinking of fragging this Toadstool. I've never fragged anything before. I want to separate the one on the left by cutting it off at the base where it connects to the primary growth/trunk. I understand you can put a toothpick through the base of the frag, perpendicular to the trunk and tie it to a frag plug or rubble. When it attaches, you remove the toothpick. Does this seem appropriate to you? Also, what happens to the "wound" on the primary growth? Do I need to do anything to that area to protect it or help it heal?

I prefer a rubber band to a toothpick personally. Cut the leather into a few pieces with scissors or a knife, like a pizza slice and it will regrow. If you take smaller slices, the mother colony will regrow faster. Leathers will regrow and heal from just about anything so long as the tank has favorable conditions.
