ID'ing SPS

So I picked up 3 decent sized deepwater SPS from Karson awhile back. Unfortunately 1 of the colonies did not make it, but the other two are hanging in there and are doing well. One of them has taken on a green sheen throughout after it came in somewhat browned out. The other one is taking on some very interesting colors. The center of it is starting to take on a green sheen, but the outer tips are going purple.

Anyways, wondering how can I get an ID on these? I've got a microscope. The colonies are big enough where I can frag out parts of each and bleach to get down to the skeleton (these sucker are about 5x5 to 5x8). Lastly I have Veron's Corals of the World books.

So with the above in mind, is it even possible to ID them by looking at the skeletal structure, or is that just gonna be a shot in the dark considering how SPS will change growth form and so on depending on their environment.

DW are very hard to ID. I can bring you a better Acro ID book the Veron's but only if you treat it well, it's like $250 :)

FWIW I have Staghorns of the World at my house too Eric as well as the Vernon books.

I wanted to be cool like Gresham so I ordered it from Australia.

Well mine came from the UK :p

Oh and who recommended it to you?

ME :)

I have to give all the credit to Joe Burger (JBNY) as he recommended it to me.

Yep. Like I said I wanted to be one of the cool kids.

FWIW, if someone is looking for one, the Australlian Dollar is way better against the USD then the pound right now. Was significantly cheaper even with shipping. I think it is published in Australia. http://www.publish.csiro.au/pid/2187.htm

It is. At the time AU had none I could get (sold out). The UK had two copies so I jumped on it.
