Jellyfish anyone?

Hmm, seems a lot more about looks than function.
But yes, looks pretty cool.

It is round ... but not in the way that eliminates corners.
It appears to have a simple under-gravel filter. Hmm.
Looking at the air setup, it seems over-reliant on a check valve. If it fails,
looks like entire tank would drain out.
Requires 25% water changes weekly.

Hey Vince ... there's been a lot of issues with these tanks; both in terms of function as well as the livestock. Not to say that an experienced reefer such as yourself couldn't give it a decent go, but they are tough. The jellies rip really easily and water quality needs to be top notch. However, really cool! If you were thinking of something like this I'd talk to one of the curators at Monterey or Steinhardt to get their hints.

One other thought ... should be no substrate and the concept of "jelly friends" is pretty comical ... especially things like hermit crabs! The best way this would work is bare Kreisel with a sump for bio filtration as jellies are pelagic creatures and stay up in the water column. I've read that in these setups the jellies inevitably get caught in the substrate at some point and tear, which leads to their rapid demise.

Not trying to be negative ;-) ... just wanted to pass on what I recently read on these!
