Lighting bulb options, Help me here!

I'm feeling that I may have jumped the gun in planning what bulbs to install in my 48" AquaPhoton Plus fixture by going with instinct instead of doing the research and gathering data. Do we all do that sometimes?

Both of the Mh's and 3 sets of T5 are all independantly controllable and I DO plan to spring for a Neptune Apex controller. I'm considering doing a wave of staggered on and off for this group. Any and all informed thoughts are welcome and appreciated.

The slots are: 2, 250w SE Mh and 6, 54W T5's.

My original plan was to use two Radium 20K's in the Mh then actinics and/or other spectrum in the T5 slots. Now I'm thinking, is that WAY too much blue spectrum (I think the 20K's run about 450 nm or very close to being considered actinics). Will my mixed reef suffer from not having something in the realm of 6100K to 10,000K day light?

Please help me get centered on this issue and offer what YOU would put in this fixture if it were over YOUR shallow, rimless Elos 90 gal tank

The Radiums are not that blue, at least not like an XM or Phoenix, you may want to use 4 blue+ along with two Aquablue Specials to even things out.
 
The AquaPhoton Plus is on it's way. I expect to receive it within a week and a half. I've got the Radium 250w 20K's on order and here's what my "light guy" suggests for the 6 T5 slots to complement the Radiums:

2 x AquaScience 22,000 K blue lamps.
1 x Korallen Zucht Fiji Purple
2 x UV Lighting Super Actinic
1 x Giesemann Midday

Friends and BAR members: Please offer your thoughts on this combination. I'm only familiar with standard 460 nm actinics!

"I don't think so" :cool: There are not a lot of them around, however, and I have posted a few questions in attempts to connect with someone who owns one. I did connect with a fellow from RC that lives in Irvine who has one and loves it. I have not seen Grim's posting, please post a link.
 
Do you really want to read Grim's T5 post ;), I mean to say, do you have hours and hours of free time followed by hours and hours more with many redundant questions :D
 
just fyi...i use the uvl super actinics and it looks very purple to me with only the t5s on. also, i've never used the fiji purple, so i cant compare the two. good luck.
