Looking for Fish Transporter

Hi! New here, so hope I’m posting in the right place. I need to relocate 2 catfish, a loach, and a yellow bellied slider turtle from Lafayette, CA to Ojai, CA.

I reached out to a local aquarium but haven’t heard back.

Anyone have any suggestions or contacts to arrange for professional transport?

They are my boss’ pets and I don’t have any experience caring for or traveling with fish. I want to make sure they are transported safely and would need an assist prepping them for travel in Lafayette and then setting them up in Ojai upon arrival

Thanks in advance for any help!

Are you flying or driving down? Driving might be easiest since you just need some buckets with lids and bubbles. Best is to have something set up at destination already so you can just plop them in at the end of the trip.

Flying might be a mess due to tsa. Catfish and loach have barbs that can puncture plastic bags, so maybe use hard plastic.

Might be helpful if you provided more details as to what you actually need so someone can figure out how to help.
  • Do you need someone to provide containers and equipment, pack and pick up the fish/turtle in Lafayette?
  • Do you need someone to tear down the existing aquarium and equipment and transport it to Ojai as well? If yes, how big is the aquarium?
  • Provide a vehicle & fuel to travel from Lafayette to Ojai or will they be riding in your vehicle?
  • Any idea what species of catfish and size (for fish and turtle as well)?
  • Can someone provide pictures of the aquarium they are in now?
  • Is there a deadline as to when this has to happen by?
As psidriven mentioned, it might be a risky proposition for the fish if your boss doesn't have an established aquarium already set up in Ojai. A newly set up aquarium or setting up the existing aquarium will still likely go through a cycle that the fish may or may not survive. I recently moved to SF from LA and transported my fresh and saltwater fish/corals up but I had the luxury of setting up new aquariums in SF a couple of months in advance to cycle before transporting any livestock.

Can you provide a bit more information like..
Is there a fish technician or maintenance service currently taking care of your bosses tanks and animals? Are their existing cycled tanks for the animals already set up in Ojai so they will just need to be acclimated upon arrival ? Or do you need everything tanks, substrate, animals and equipment all moved at once down to Ojai and set up? If so what size of tanks dimensions and gallons?..The turtle can just be placed in an appropriate size plastic bin with damp moss or wet towels with plenty of ventilation super simple..Clown loaches can be three inches to a football length. What species of catfish are we talking about and how big? red tailed cats can easily grow two to three feet in a few years for example. So could be a simple mini cooper or van transport depending on info which makes a bit of difference..Pictures would be useful. Sorry to bombard some Q’s but without that info hard to point in the right direction
