Lots of Zoas

Just curious, what is the best way to share some nice zoas besides DBTC and paying it forward? They are growing like weeds in my tank. I gave away a lot of them 6 months ago and i'm already on a 2nd large batch to give away. I find that having people come over just isn't very efficient and I really don't have the time to frag them (i'm talking large qty. I literally ripped them off the floor and sides of my tank and I've got carpets of zoas. Not even sure what the names are, i've stopped keeping track of zoas names. Its the yellow zoas or yellow and purple rings. The red ones just started growing up the front of the tank so thats gonna be next on my list to frag with a razor. I can't believe the red ones were 3 polyps less than a year ago.

The vast majority of the yellow ones appear to be King Midas, the reddish ones look like iron oxides. Both pretty nice zoa in my opinion

I think donating them to fragging workshops, or bringing them to frag swaps would be nice. Alternatively, bring them to a local fish store and ask if they'll give you store credit.

I used to do a zoa fragging workshop at my house for anyone who wanted to come over and make their own frag. Real reason is I wanted them to do the work and take the frag home, while sharing the knowledge about how to frag zoas safely. You could bring the whole rock to a fragging workshop next time the club does one.

Could always just sell the rock and start over with a fresh one too.

The main option I can think of is possibly we have cfm next month. If they were fragged up we could potential place them on the bar table as give always.

Judging by the pictures there are so many zoas, It would possibly be challenging to give them all away unless it was brought to a frag swap or highly attended event like cfm.

If they were to make it to me next month, I would be willing to frag them up for cfm.

I personally wouldn't wanna risk getting stuck with so many of the same types if there wasn't a event coming up soon.

Alternatively you could try to sale them for extra reefing cash on one of the local fb reefing groups. Maybe someone there might be intrested in taking them all.

I think most bar memebers are intrested in variety (lots of different small to mid size frags) when it comes to zoas verse massive colonies of 1-2 types.

I must say however very impressive how you're able to grow those things out. Are you feeding them or doing special?

Where are you located

Its a curse when zoas grow this fast. I believe the red ones were sold to me as BamBam's red zoas. It certainly looks like bambams if memory serves me. When is the next frag work shop? Or the next frag swap? I can't frag them for the frag swap but I can bring it and people can take what they want.

btw I never had this kind of success before i started reef moonshiners. Now corals are just exploding and I have to really concentrate on slow growers only. As for my location , corals are located in san francisco. Trying to avoid so many people coming to my place for corals. And I feel bad if I gave that much zoas to a single person because it'll literally take over your tank. Not interested in any trades, you guys don't have to give me anything. Any soft corals in my tank will just take off and take over my tank (except for this 1 red / orange yuma I have).

They are King Midas and Orange Oxide (bam bams have a solid red in the middle without the ring). You also have what looks like Blue Hornets in there.

It sounds like what makes the most sense for you is to have someone come over with a large container who has time to frag them up and hand out to the club before the next frag swap.
