Nice.. that is a female right?

bluetang, yes it is reef safe..
Not completely. Like any "reef safe" trigger there still is a chance ;)

what is the name of the fish?
Blue Throat Trigger.

With out knowing the size I can't say male or female though (male has blue throat)

I thought it can eat invertebrates but doesn't bother other stuff? What does it do?

bluetang, I think it's a Crosshatch Triggerfish.

That's a blue Throat Gresham??

Whooops.... Crosshatch your right. I just kinda woke up ;)

Corals, anemones, shrimp, brittle stars, snails, are all invertebrates, actually, just about everything in our tanks besides fish and rock are invertebrates Phong ;)

An invertebrate is an animal lacking a vertebral column. The group includes 98% of all animal species[1] — all animals except those in the Chordate subphylum Vertebrata (fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals).

Whoa whoa whoa, triggers are reef safe?! I love triggers but always thought they were all mean SOB's. Are their "mostly" reef safe ones?

Blue throat is... but with caution.
Blue Throat, Niger, Cross hatch. Ones with the mouth higher on their head (not dead front) usually don't do much picking.

GreshamH-Do you think it is a female? It is 5-6" long.
Anyway, what a delightful fish for the reef. Seems to be very reef friendly. No problems with any inverts.
I have about 70 frags. mostly lps but quite a few sps. also several shrimp, brittle stars, featherdusters.
Been a model citizen so far. ;D

I thought the same thing! They are pretty aggressive though, right? Can they be kept with small less aggressive fish?
I can only say That I have read and been told that this trigger "Crosshatch" is Reef friendly.
He has not once gone after a fish or invert that I have seen.
I am keeping these fish with him in my 210 gal reef.
