Nassarius Snail propagation

I've got two Nassarius snails, one in each tank, well.............until two days ago, I found a juvinile on th glass of one tank waving his proboscis around like a trumpet. Where did that dude come from? Do they reproduce asexually? How could this wonderful event happen? Did the snail stork drop it in the tank?

Could they have reproduced sexually, and one happened to survive to its juvenile stage? My Nassarius distortus used to always lay eggs on the glass, though nothing ever really became of them.

I just realized that for a few days, I did have them in the same tank so they "could" have done the snail tango after all. It was funny to see the little miniature version doing the classic elephant trunk mimic with it's probe. BTW, I didn't see the little dude today. Hmmmmm now six line wrasse in that tank. I see reasonable amounts of "good" little snails emerging around the reef. OK, I don't inspect each one! 0:)

From a reputable source on Nanoreef, "Nassarius snails have a long planktonic stage so it is kind of rare to get babies"... even though I have a few babies in my tank. I also have collinista snails that seem to just come out of nowhere, and in my macro tank I have a slew of stomatella snails.
