Need advice , Can Cheato die off from this ?

I noticed my cheato looking sort of pale for lately......all parameters were within their levels but by chance I chk'd salinity and WHAM....1.031.....nornally I have a hard time keeping it up past 1.025. Now that I dose with two part it creeps up there faster then I'm used to.

Anyway ....slowly brought salinity back to 1.026 over a couple of days but Cheato is pale and feels pretty brittle....could it be that it has died? Not sure if I should remove it or see if it comes back to normal. Anyone else have suggestions / advice . Thanks in advance.

Sergio, I had the chaeto in my office tank slowly turn light green. I suspect it was due to a lack of nutrients, since the tank has no fish, only corals and a couple of crabs. I can bring healthy chaeto from the new home tank to Baymac for you.

I plan to bring bags of 3 types of macro algae including chaeto to BAYMAC that will be up for grabs.
My 20 gallon QT tank is 1/2 full of the stuff!

I broke down a 30g tank Saturday that was cycling rock for about two months. I had scattered a small amount of chaeto across the top to help bring the NO3 down from the cycle. It worked and the mat grew ten inches thick over the whole tank. In the last week I noticed the top half was yellowing. It must have been doing the same as yours Sergio. No new nutrients going in so must have been yellowing like land plants. The more shaded lower section was still healthy.

Its now compost. Sorry I did not think to hold it for BAYMAC.
