Finally got pics of it. Not very good ones, I think I need more light so maybe will try this weekend if quality is too poor for id.

Neat little jelly! Is it in your tank? It reminds me of the fantastic Jellyfish displays that Monteray Bay Aquarium had recently. :D

I've seen those in my tank on a few occasions, they just randomly appear and then don't show up for months.

Awesome pictures! How'd you get so close? Macro lens?

They are very small, about 1mm wide.
I used Nikon D90 + Tamron 90mm Macro + tripod.

It looks like jellyfish, it swims like jellyfish. I'm a software engineer not a biologist. I can call it "a thing". Just tell me where they come from and where they go ;-)

 But did you stay at a Holiday Inn recently?

I'm not sure it can be id'd from that pic alone. Can you try to get one with a ruler or something for scale, a pen tip, etc?

FWIW I had a sponge release what I thought were "eggs" and then I had those in my tank (mangrove refugium). They settled out into a big spider web then crashed :( I don't recall the time frame though,, sorry.

Why do you all assume it's a jellyfish?

Well it sure tasted like a jellyfish!
