New Year’s Reefsolutions 2025

Well,
I didn’t see a related thread so figured I would start one. What are your new years reefsolutions for 2025?
I will start:
1. Finally add in the Neptune Trident I bought over a year and a half ago (it was used so I hope it actually works. Hahaha). Came with six months of reagents which I assume are all expired. Just received a six month supply in the mail so the clock is ticking. Need to get off my lazy ass and set it up.
2. Better success with a mixed reef/SPS. I think this ties in with the above in terms of keeping better track of my main parameters with at least daily testing. But this also means keeping up on the maintenance overall.

Anyone else?

Gerry

Mine is setting up the living wall. I just got my irrigation setup in the mail today. Way easier to buy an indoor irrigation setup than design and make one. Next is stapling that and the felt to the wall. The programming and planting!

For reefing, keep the progress on my big tank. To me, that means get it pretty full of coral by the end of the year, so that it can start growing over the next couple. Controlling the rats nest is a nice to have. And maybe adding led light bars to flank the 360x's I have in a line.

1. Get the 90 Gallon up and running.

2. Tidy up all wires and cords. I hate how it looks now and having to follow the wire to find out what’s what. I want to get some form of cabinet with a false wall to organize everything in. And label each plug so I know what’s what. Easier said than done but now as I’m setting up is the right time.

3. Practice fragging more. Still haven’t fragged any zoas because I’m too scared lol. Really looking forward to a fragging workshop.

4. Build more connections in this hobby. Meet more fellow reefers in and out of the club. I’ve kinda stuck to the same group of people but I’d really like to meet more people

2. Stop hoarding reef equipment!
I find this quite handy ...you got enough equipment to stock an LFS but at better prices! Haha

This year:

-get through the ugly stage,
-seed the biome with reef rock
-take quarantine serious with all new additions
-learn how to use my apex and optimize time spent doing maintenance
-pick up an FMM and get more flood sensors before o get booted out the house for a flood
-go on a hunt for tabling across to fill this thing with sticks
-take my time and enjoy the journey..remembering that it ain't a race.

My resolution is adding in NPS (and keeping them alive)
Also adding another rock for acros.
Also get my cabling in the stand under control!

Move plugin equipment (I never keep under tank to protect from moisture) from right side of the tank to the left side. I had to use the right side initially because there is a dedicated circuit on that side. I didn't want to daisy chain an extension cord for fire reasons. I upgraded several DJ power strips to now have a 12 foot cord to reach the dedicated circuit's outlets from the left side of the tank.
