pond liner for temparary holding livestock

Would it all right to use a pond liner to hold livestock for a few day (2-3 days at the most) with heater and flow of course ......just no lighting. would some thing like a childrens tide pool work as well?

Sergio

Depends on the exact liner.
Good Firestone EPDM pond liner will be fine.
It is spec'd as fish safe, and I have used it for a sump during various experiments.
Others may have dangerous chemicals.

I have never ran across anything sold for "ponds" that is NOT fish safe.

Its easy to slice with LR (from experience) so be careful.

Kiddy pools work as well. The koi industry LOVES those for events.

Yes you can get it there. ANY "pond" liner will work and you really do not need EPDM if this isn't long term. You could simply save money and go with vinyl. Those billboards you see everyplace have vinyl signs on them... they recycle those and you can get them VERY cheaply for pond liners. I know a lot of people using them..

I bought mine online.
I did buy that liner specifically for the lack of plasticizers and oils, plus it is more puncture and cut resistant.

But agree, unless there is obvious surface contamination, pretty much any liner or vinyl will be fine for the short term.

Edit:
Key thing to absolutely AVOID is "roofing liner", which has antibacterial and antifungal additives.

Levi - thanks and I will more than likely need to lighten the coral load once I get my aquascaping done......hurry and get yours up and running :)

Ed - That sounds perfect ....I will hit you up later on the week end and maybe borrow it for the weekend of 10/22

I'm trying :) I also have a bunch of 4x6 posts, 2x4's and I think some 2x12's that we could build you a make shift box with to put the liner in so you dont have to buy anything. Let me know when you are starting the work and I'll see if I can free up.

Pond liner works fine, even for more than a few days. I helped Steve at New Alameda do that a few years ago.

I've got a new unused pond liner in the garage somewhere if anybody wants one.

Yah we had a one in long term use at Cortez Marine, as well as at the service company I worked at.

Hey Sergio - I have a 55 gallon acrylic tank in the garage you can use if you need it. It's not pretty by any means but it holds water. Let me know if you need a hand with anything!
