Problems with koralia nano pumps

I have 2 koralia nanos and a wave timer. They basically rotate 30 sec. intervals. Always either 1 or the other will just stop working. I'll have to take it out bang it around a little and sometimes I'll soak them in viniger but it will just happen again a couple days later. Is the problem with them turning off and on so often? What should I do?

I have a korailia 1 and in the month and a half i have had it, it has turned off once on me too. I took it out of the tank and took it apart and cleaned the brown algae off of it and it has been working fine since. I dont know why it stopped but I contacted the place I got it and they sent me another one because i complained it was defective.

I had a problem with a Koralia stopping up on me too. I ended up bringing it back to the LFS, where they took it apart and discovered a mini bristle star in it. I'm not sure how they took it apart, but if you can, you might want to try that and see if any critters are jamming up the impellar.

I doubt the mini brittle was the problem. They can be smashed with the slightest touch and those pumps create far more then enough shear force to rip them part. Most likely it took up residence after the pump stopped working

good point Gresham. I'm not sure why it only worked intermitently then. I can also say that on two occasions, the front half of the pump would come off with the propeller and all. At other times, it would just stall thought you could hear it trying to turn.

I have 2 koralia nanos. One works great ( never had a problem) and the other is flaky. It actually works better if there is something inside hitting the propellar. Otherwise, it stops for no reason. I have pulled it apart many times, and only if it is situated just right, will it work. (Unless there is a snail inside the protective covering spinning around and hitting it, then it works all the time. I release the snails every so often because watching them makes me dizzy - I can only imagine how the snails feel : )

Are these the controllable koralias with the corresponding controller? If not, it was my understanding these pumps were not made to cycle on and off like maxijets.
