New Species Alert!
Check out the Biota captive-bred Spurilla nudibranch, a stunning Aiptasia-eating machine! Watch as this fascinating creature devours pest anemones like spaghetti. Doesn't even chew, just gulps Aiptasia, one after another. They're huge compared to Berghia, so they are absolutely voracious for Aiptasia.
Why we’re excited about the new Spurilla -
These nudibranchs are voracious predators, making them a natural and sustainable solution for tackling pest anemones in your reef tank.
With cerata (finger-like projections) that range from orange to translucent, their appearance reflects their diet and makes them a unique addition to any tank.
These Aeolid nudibranchs, likely Spurilla neapolitana, grow up to 1 - 3 inches and are known for their elongated bodies and cerata, which house extensions of their digestive system. In the wild, they’re found in coastal waters, often near their prey, such as anemones and other cnidarians.
Fun fact: They can store stinging cells (nematocysts) from their prey in their cerata and use them for defense.
Add a Biota Spurilla nudibranch to your reef tank for natural pest control and a fascinating addition to your marine ecosystem. Available now at https://shop.thebiotagroup.com/products/spurilla-nudibranch-aiptasia-eater
