question on running citric acid in empty tank

I've torn down my 220 and it needs cleaning. I'm planning to run citric acid in regular water (about 22 lbs citric acid) and use my cor 20's to circulate and a couple powerheads. Is it allright to run more than a week, run it while I'm gone (or shut pumps off and let it sit) as I have a trip to washington next week. Or should I just wait until I return to do this. Was planning on leaving the skimmer in the water but not on to clean it as well. What is the best way to do this

22lbs is way too much. 2lbs is sufficient. I had equupments in citric for over a week without any problems. However, I didnt have anything on. Piece of mind, I wouldn't run equupments unattended for long duration.

It's a big red sea tank. Seam might break. LOL

2 lbs for a 220 tank? Google said 1 cup per gal lol's. That was my thought with leaving equip. running. And if I let it sit a week, my entire house will prob. stink. (worse than now with a dirty empty tank lol's)

I use 1 scoop per 5 gallon. depends on algae coverage. The manufacturer always suggest consumers to use more so they rake in the $$$
