My tangs in the past have always loved Graciliaria. But I have never had a refugium to grow it out in. I'm wondering how fast does it grow, and should I have a combination of different macros in my refugium.
That thing is hard to keep alive in our tank. I tried many time but never able to grow them out .. Tang eats red/green grape macroalgae too. Those are much easier to keep.
I have also wanted to grow out Gracillaria for my (previous) tangs. I have not been successful yet, though I believe the 5 gal bucket wasn't the ideal place for it. If someone has a foolproof method, I'd like to know too.
I believe diffferent macros can compete with each other. I'm sure someone will corret me if I am wrong, but I believe I read it somewhere...
It requires higher nutrient levels then we as hobbyists care to allow our tanks to build up. Some are successful but many aren't. My tank can't grow it.
Keep in mind there are tons of Gracilaria species though and our G. pacifica differs from the usual suspects (Tang Heaven (R) and the ones ORA does).
