Ship video some may find interesting.

I visited my family for xmas and found this video on my dad's computer, he had it convetered from a 9MM reel that came witht he ship when he bought it from the navy. I thought it was cool so I thought I'd share, uploaded it to youtube and here it is:

OK.... sooooo your dad like has this thing in his garage or what?
Unfrickinreal.
I just wanna see the titanium prop.

I just want to be able to sell a titanium prop at 1969 prices!

Really though the saga of my dad buying the plainview is long and boring but some basic info:

When the Navy decommissioned it they kept the front foils, all powerplants, gearboxes and propulsion units.

It's in the background in a scene of the movie "Short Circuit" as they drive past my dad's boatbuilding shop in Astoria, OR.

It's now mostly scrapped, some of the hull is left on the north bank of the columbia river. Plasma cutters are fun, but not as a full time job...

Here's a reply from Russian military: http://forum.xcitefun.net/russian-ekranoplan-the-flying-ship-t45235.html

Not a video though. They didn't have cameras ;-)

Yeah, those things are cool too, there was a guy that had a smaller ground fx craft kit you could build for $20,000, I was tempted!
