Skimmer on or off during coral feeding?

Hello. Do you folks turn off your skimmer when feeding your corals (w/ Oysterfeast, etc.)?

I've been doing this for a few months, now my skimmmer pump needs a good whack and good amount of jiggling in order for it to start. The pump (OR 3500) is clean, maintained pretty well and has only been in service less than a year. I really think it's the on/off during feed time that's made it finicky.

^^^that is true with almost all the RN product line...leave your skimmer on, they'll temporary shut it down for you by dropping the head for a short period.

Oh...I was turning it off because I thought the food would end up in the skimmate. This does not happen?

It does but since there is no head, there is no removal taking place.
