OK, not as spectacular as the recent club member disasters, but here's my story.
A couple of nights ago I decide it's time to clean out the skimmer, so I do.
The next morning, I hear the return pump complaining, the return section is almost out of water, but I didn't really have time to do much more than fill a few pitchers of RO water into the tank so it stops that "pump needs water" sound. OK, water level looks good.
I get home after work and the pump is making a worse sound, and I can see that the level of the main tank is low...meaning that the return lines siphoned out water as if the pump was off. Weird!
I look behind the tank and there is water on the (wood!) floor! But where is it coming from? Is the sump leaking? Argh!
(So after feeding the kids, etc) I check and I see that ... the effluent line from my CA Reactor is sitting on the floor behind the tank!!
When I cleaned out the skimmer, I must have knocked the line out of the sump somehow! So basically a ph 6.8 liquid has been sitting on my nice wood floors for 24 hours or so...grrrr..
So since my CA Reactor input is T-ed off my return line, I guess that it slowly pushed out all the water in the return area, then at some point the return lines siphoned down more water from the main tank...to be pushed through the reactor and onto the floor!!
Anyway...just bad luck! The bad thing is that since I originally thought it was evaporation, I replaced the tank water with RO water!
Bah...!
