Thomas' CADE Reef 1500 S2

Tested things other than alkalinity for the first time since starting. I was doing my old one spoon of CaCl2 to two spoons of bicarb every other day and looks like I've been pretty much dead on just by observing the corals.

Alk: 7.44 dKH
Ca: 400 ppm
Mg: 1260 ppm
NO3: 13.4 ppm
PO4: 0.25 ppm

Definitely need to scrub/siphon the sump but at least the clams are growing and fully attached to the glass. I measured the Kessil putting out 450 umol which is pretty good and letting the clams develop more color:

Skimmer is absolutely rolling and pulling out the nastiest skimmate (aka nog for us old timers), especially after all the cyano and algae in the main tank died off.

Bunch of updates since it's been awhile. The female copperband had grown a ton the past few months and got larger than the male who was probably 15% bigger when I introduced him. All of a sudden she started getting aggressive when the lights turned off and was attacking the male to the point where he was trying to jump out of the tank.

Wounds on the male:

Caught both, then gave the female to @MarcosD for his new system.

The male has healed up but is still a little timid. Shame because they were totally fine and followed each other everywhere for months.

Most corals are doing well. Lost the JF Fox Flame. Lot of hair algae growing too but removing it is pretty easy. I often go over a week without sticking my arms in the tank though, everything is pretty automated.

Added 3x Hydros dosers to the Launch and decided to use the 3x Icecap reservoirs to dose CaCl, bicarb, and MgSO4+ MgCl using Randy's old 3 part methods. Dumping things on at lights on in the morning with each pump staggered by a few minutes to let things clear in the sump. Consumption is picking up as the clams grow and I'm finally seeing coralline and decent growth of other corals.

I'll finish gluing frags, gorgonians, and mini colonies from my nano in here tonight then let things sit for a month before touching anything. Probably will add a bristletooth tang plus some anthias after then. Maybe a biota yellow tang last.

Clowns spawned for the first time after transfer too!

The clam fuge is very intresting. How has it been working out for you?

I have a Maximum clam 3inches or so from last cfm.

That’s a bummer about the CBBs. But the male has to learn, no means no. Lol
I believe she’s in good hands with Marcos though.

Now something that would be amazing is if the female actually some how got pregnant and having mood swings or feeling territorial. That would be incredible! Probably not likely, but if it did.. Just WOW.
