Earlier this year in April on my trip to Seoul, South Korea, I had the chance to visit Cafe Shally – Shallow Reef Studio, and wow… this place is a must for reef lovers! ✨ If you’re into reefs and coffee, you’re going to love it. The café is packed with over 20 stunning tanks, plus delicious coffee and snacks. Did I mention the back half of the cafe is an actual local fish store where you can buy supplies!!! The vibe is unreal—relaxing, inspiring, and full of reef magic. Must see if you visit Seoul!

*****Going to convert this thread to my travel journal of aquariums around the world. Whenever I go on vacation I try to visit public aquariums, LFS or aquarium theme cafes.

I just got back from Osaka and Kyoto last week. In Kyoto I visited the Aqua Garden Kyoto. It’s a cafe within a short walk from the Nishiki Market, great place to grab a drink and take a break from shopping. It has mostly freshwater planted tanks. The 5 planted tanks on the right were nice. Each was planted but had a different unique vibe to them. They also had a 4’x4’ saltwater tank, but tbh it wasn’t that impressive. Mostly fish and some anemones. The long tank on the left was impressively long. Must’ve been 25ft+ made of 3 glass panels. It housed mostly Blood Red Parrot Cichlids and other Cichlids as well as two turtles, one was a Fly River Turtle.

In Osaka I visited Blue Harbor Aquarium owned by Koji Wada! The Koji Wada Pink Nepthea is one of my favorite leathers so it was a must visit for me since this will probably be the only time I'll be in Osaka. Blue Harbor is known in Japan to import rare fish. I walked 15 minutes from the train station in the rain to check it out haha. Unfortunately he wasn’t at the shop. The staff was friendly tho. They did have some rare Angels, Anthias, Yurple Tang and I got to see a few authentic Japanese Yellow Tangs! They actually do look a bit different than Hawaiian Yellow Tangs. Hard to describe, but their yellow is a bit deeper Yellow, fins looked a bit bigger and eyes looked smaller lol. They did have some 2" Biota Yellow Tangs there as well. Lots of Bali Aquarich Black Helmet Picassco clownfishes and some crazy looking tri-color Storms. I wasn’t able to take any pictures or videos inside the shop since it wasn’t allowed. However, you can watch this WWC video here of Koji Wada giving a tour of his shop. Looks pretty much the same when I visited. I was able to buy some T shirts from them. I have an extra shirt in size Large for $30 if anyone wants it. I also gave them my sticker and BAR stickers for their front window to represent us from across the World! haha
