Ugly stage - what is brown, long , stringy with air bubbles in midday(not at night)?

I’m pretty sure I’m going through the ugly stage. I have been super busy at work and not keeping up with testing / monitoring the parameters. Alk swing plus or minus 1 or 1.5. Nitrate is btw 5-15. Phosphate is low but measurable. Overall not ideal but should be ok I think.

The brown string thingy keep growing. I pull a few by hand and they are tough. Like a rough string. Not going to get blown by powerhead .

Hydrogen peroxide dip ( on the loose rock) seems to do the trick. It will turn white and then gone.

Any idea what I’m dealing with?
