Vermatid snail?

Bought a solar or Solon wrasse from an lfs over the weekend. Put him in a cage. In the morning the cage has spider like web inside. Easily siphon out. Never had this problem until this guy was introduced.

I have 2 corals, maybe more, with tubes that could be the snails home. Those tunes were destroyed yesterday. Yet this morning there's still spider web.

What is it and how to prevent?

That is mostly slime from the wrasse. They form a cocoon to sleep in.

Sand burrowing types don’t, like leopards and corris but fairy’s,flashers etc. don’t burrow so they make a slime coat instead. The slime coat isn’t something to worry about at all.

I believe they make them too, you just don't see it because it's in the sand.
