Your no. 1 (overlooked) thing to plan for when going on extended vacation

I know that @SupraSaltyReefer and @richiev just took some time away from their tanks and things panned out well. They might have some better insight for vacay prep

My tanks are pretty basic compared to Alex’s tank. I strip it down to bare bones when I’m traveling so there’s less chances of anything stop working. Only equipment I keep running are dual return pumps and dual heaters each on separate breakers, skimmer, auto fish feeder with video camera and lights of course. My tank doesn’t have many corals so dosing isn’t a concern for the 16 days I was away. I disconnect the UV as well. I use a Hygger battery operated air pump that switches over to battery mode when it detects the outlet aren’t working. I also only feed pellets and reduce feeding to every other day. Fishes don’t need to eat everyday. This helps reduce the chances of malfunction and the auto fish feeder from dumping a ton of food into your tank. Most importantly is the auto water top off and making sure you have enough rodi to last while you are away.

Depending on how many people live in your house, your Ph may run higher when away. I notice that effect on my own tank if I'm out for the weekend. If you have any dosing that's dependant on ph, take that into consideration

This is my single biggest concern at the moment. A significant shift in alkalinity consumption while I am gone.
