Our mission

Jeff's 120

So I've got to post a few coral pics here.... My frag tank is about 2/3's stuffed with SPS right now and I couldn't be happier. Big thanks to Jeremy (tuberider) and Perry (xinumaster) for going above and beyond to hook me up. I also got some very nice corals from Neptune Aquatics, Aquatic Gallary and Aquatic Collection.... Not to mention some very nice stuff from several of you via DBTC and the recent frag swap. I hope to do some coral scaping in the next week or two with what I've gathered and finally put some color in this 120 I've been building....

A few Pics...

Jeff, how come you never turn your pics so they don't require you to bend your head to the side.............

Beautiful tank and frags regardless

Your mighty magnet is which size f2? I got the f4 as was worried that stronger was needed, am wondering how you liked the strength of the one you recieved.

I'm liking the F2 that I got but for the really tough stuff that I allowed to build up in the tank the sock was the only thing that really worked well and it took several passes not two. If I had it to do over again I would probably go with the F4 instead. I may actually try to sell this set up here and order the F4.

...because I'm lazy ;)

It takes some time to post 20-30 pics like that.... to have to turn them around would double or triple that time. Lots of the pics are also somewhere between sideways and upright so I just leave it. Sorry for the neck ache... ;)

totally skipped over those[quote author=zambavi link=topic=4762.msg83571#msg83571 date=1235409580]
I just posted FTS's yesterday also of frag tank and display.... on previous page.

Whoa, how'd I miss those

Thanks.... It is a combination of drilled rock placed over 1/2" PVC, Acrylic Rods, Heavy Duty Black Zipties and Ocean Wonders Coralline Purple Epoxy....

I still have some minor tweaking to do this week before I'm 100% satisfied with the aquascaping.... Once I finish that I've got to build by new lighting for this tank..... THEN... I'll finally put some corals in this bad boy!

Yes and Yes :)

I put a 1/2" Mason bit on my Drill Press and then put a basin filled with saltwater underneith the bit area. Drilled the rock that way... this way I could keep both hands on the rock to guide it slowly the way I wanted it.... no holding the rock with one hand and drilling with the other.

I have had a great time with this build so far.... so many other things to do still... I think it will be another 6 months before I can say I've got nothing else to do... on the build that is. ;)

Your frag tank is reminiscent of Neptune aquatics! Frags for sale anyone?! ;D

BTW, it looks great. Can't wait to see them in place in the tank! :D

Still looking for a longer term solution for a skimmer on this system. My ASM G-3 is not rated high enough for my volume and I'd like to stock a little on the heavy side with fish but still keep water quality for keeping/growing SPS. I have some fairly common size limitations in my sump/skimmer chamber with an available dimmension of about 11.5" by 17.5". So I've weeded through a ton of different skimmers that I don't think will work for me for a variety of reasons and have come down to 2-3 that I'm seriously looking at.

Head to Head I am looking at the ATI BM200 rated for 200g and the Deltec APF600 rated for 200g. The Deltec is about $100 more than the bubble master. ...for the same $100 more I could also get the ATI BM 250 which is rated for nearly 500g. So my questions are....

If it was you... Deltec APF600 or Bubble Master 200 or Bubble Master 250?
I know it's not likely but... could the BM250 be "TOO" much skim for my roughly 200g system?
Anyone here have experience with these guys that could give me some feedback?

I have a BM250 on my 180 Jeff, while it doesn't make the thick chocolate liquid of skimmate, it does pull out a semi-dark green liquid (wet skimmed), and you saw my tank I had 4 fish in it (although 3 of them are herbivores that poop quite a bit :D).

However I think a BM200 could do the job as well. Personally if I had a choice I'd look into the octopus extreme series of skimmers, which use the same pumps as the BM but are quite a bit cheaper. I would have gone that route had I not found someone selling this one a substantially discounted price.

Thanks Mike... I looked at the octopus' also but it looked like they would not work with my limited skimmer chamber space. If you decide to move on to the Octo LMK... I'd be interested in your BM250 ;)

If you have $ go for the biggest one that you can afford. I don't believe in over skim. IMO, most skimmers are over rated.

I used to have an ER CS8-2 on a 100G ;D ..
