LINK FAIL :) but got fixed when I quoted you :p

IMO/IME that mini eel grass (Asian) was not sourced from Aquaria but rather from bait. I have seen bait, normally worms, packed in eel grass (shipped from Asia).

Sounds perfect for a fuge then :)

I'm thinking of putting Pickleweed with Dodder in my surge/mangrove/fuge since it has an area above water just perfect for it :)

Pickleweed? The local species or a tropical one? If the latter, where are you getting it from? Interested to know how it does in full saltwater....

local stuff but does fine in warmer waters. A researcher I have been talking with for closer to 20 years is giving me some. He does a lot of work at Elkhorn Slew but currently (last few years) has been doing bio-fuel research. can't say more in public but can talk to you offline about it. Kinda all ready aid to much

Anyone have any experience with "oar grass" aka Halophila decipiens?

It grows about as fast as Caulerpa, but is easily controlled with tangs/rabbitfish. Although it is supposed to grow in the sand it will climb right up onto rocks and smother corals, and it puts down roots that are hard to remove.

So not ideal for my mangrove system since I can't have any herbivorous fish and I don't want to have to "manage" it :(

I think that's what I have in my tank, but it's not doing the greatest. ie almost no growth at all after a few months. The sand bed isn't the deepest though. Is it supposed to be worse than stargrass?

That's not what John at Reef Cleaners says. Given he has to get permits for this stuff, and if he takes the wrong stuff he can get a hefty fine so I'm taking his word :) It's just another reason I like to use the latin and why common names suck!@

Oar grass, (Halophila decipiens), is a low lying seagrass that is relatively easy to keep, and does not require the deep sand bed, or intense lighting other seagrasses do.

woops! yup, you're right. ditto on the latin though. Google "paddle grass" and the first 2 entries come up calling it h. decipiens heh. But I do have the H. decipiens from John in my tank right now.
