Reef Builders...another change

Just let the Kid move on. He's going places in the hobby, and RB will always be RB.

RB has a strong force behind it, and comparing it to when Jake was alive really does it a disservice.

The people behind it are dedicated, and LOVE the hobby.
 
Salem is definitely stirring up a lot of insight in the hobby. I am sure he will be able to create his own thing or another company will snatch him up.

RB has been around for quite some time from what I have seen. The content Jake brought was great. @under_water_ninja actually encouraged me to check him out on YouTube and do some learning.

Regarding the comparison of when Jake was alive, are you referring to the hobbyist on social media? As for the people behind RB, I imagine they will look for another spokesperson the same way they brought in Jake to build up their brand. Same with Remy and Salem. It will be interesting what the next iteration of RB will be.
 
I have gone on their website twice so far. Never understood what their purpose is really. The fact that Jake was one of the co-owners seems to be the only remarkable thing about them. The one positive thing that the current management seems to do is to promote more women in the hobby, which is really needed. Our club could benefit from this a lot too.

And re Salem - lots of potential probably. Will take some time to develop. He could attract more younger folks but not sure that he is focusing on that, instead hanging out with the old league a lot. Maybe he is trying to change that now.

What leads you to believe Jake was a co-owner? Did you glean that from your two visits? He didn't own it, Ryan did.

Why would Salem focus on younger folks when his focus is on the science, and nothing else?

The running of the site. Jake spent a lot of time, and effort, coordinating launches, etc. His style was evident. Now a team is doing that, and from what I see, they're trying to find the new style, and a lot of people are complaining about that... "its not like when Jake ran it".

I think it is easy to understand why folks would want something that is similar to Jake if that is what brought them enjoyment when viewing that content. He certainly could never be replaced. Nor do I believe they were trying to do that. Folks complaining and getting defensive over it seem to be the common theme though. Not everyone will be happy with the outcome.
