Any negative effect on high Ph, been getting high Ph since I switched my two Part.

Are you sure this is even correct? have you calibrated recently and checked it against a 2nd PH probe? These things are wrong all the time - maybe even most of the time.

Some have this problem of high PH, even if your actual values might not be 100% correct. I believe even Kenny showed similar charts previously.

High PH is as undesirable as low PH, mainly due to increased precipitation of CA and decreased stability of traces overall.

If inaccurate probe reading is ruled out, I would look for the reason for the high PH. Given the current weather and possibly low CO2 in your house, I assume your alkalinity is higher than it needs to be. What switch of your two part did you make? What is your alkalinity level?

Agree first steps to verify calibration, give more details on your from->to switch.

That said, those numbers are fine. Normal/optimal is around 8.3 and your average is about 8.4.

Thank you all for your input. A simple recalibration solved the issue—it was significantly off before the drift—but now everything is accurate again. I’ve learned that recalibrating every six months is the optimal schedule going forward.

I didn't want to introduce too much science into this thread, but 8.6 PH is practically impossible without sky high alk (like 20+) or some other major manipulation of Co2 levels inside the tank.

So this doesn't surprise me glad you figured it out.

I recalibrate them every 5 weeks. I found this to be needed unless you do not mind 0.1 or 0.2 to be off, in some months.

Can I ask @Ayman -which brand you are using? I have a pinpoint ph probe that I seem unable to calibrate.

Ah..the neptune one. Others have used less expensive probes with success. I cannot -and seeing if anyone is having success of late

That’s why I was looking for a cheaper alternative! I just can’t tell if Neptune did an update to make 3rd party probes not useable, my recent one is a dud although it registers just fine in 7.0 solution (can’t calibrate), stray voltage in tank, or the something wrong with apex itself

I have the Neptune Apex probe. Been running solid for years, only rarely do I need to recalibrate, like every couple years. That said, I would always recalibrate first if I see numbers that I don’t expect or that might cause me to change something.
