Some time on Monday a rather odd thing happened to my wife, and my Mustang. Someone either at Petco or at my condo stabbed my Mustang. Yeah you read that right, they stabbed my Mustang in the trunk lid with knife right above the spoiler. I work at a dealership and the body shop we deal with (Fix Auto) wants $2000 to fix it. Basically new trunk lid, and paint. It is aluminum and nearly impossible to weld.

So I am thinking of some bondo for the hole, and carbon fiber wrap the trunk lid. Anyone here in the biz? or maybe got a good hookup? I am in a state of broke due to a new hobby that I have that wants all my money :p

Hopefully ur insurance deductible is considerably lower then 2k..But Bondo Metal reinforced filler will work on the hole body shops use it daily..
Good luck

not worth turning into insurance and getting my premiums jacked for 3 years :(

I worked it out with the body shop we deal with. I will prep the car in their parking lot. They will come out and apply some 3M body filler. And then I will take it home and finish sanding and smoothing.

While in college I worked in a body shop for 2 years.... Prep was my LEAST favorite part of the job, I always preferred to be in the booth painting. I still have my spray guns and mask, just the last time I busted it out for a guitar I was building I had my HOA on my arse before I could shut the compressor off. Plus the Mustang is a triple stage paint, tinted primer, clear, base.... And I am just not that good LOL.

So..... Wrap or a nice clownfish BAR decal on the trunk :)

Vandalism claim should not raise your premium.

How much is a wrap on a van? Sorry for the hijack
Well it’s a loaded question. Why ? Because it’s all about quality of materials and craftsmanship. I looked into it years ago to do my company vans. Ford e150. The best I could find was 2k without logos. With logos about 15 of them. They were around 3.5k.
It was cheaper for us to have the vans painted black by macco and buy vinyl decals separately. It was about 1700 that way per van. It was about 15 years ago.
My classic cars. Are around 3k to 4k. But that’s like closest to a paint job.

When we got our new to us Transits (you would think as a dealer we would get new... but no...) It was around 6k per van, 3/4 wrapped, full color, installed, using Ford's template. It has been on the vans for about 3 years now and still looks good. When choosing wrap pay extra for the good stuff.
