Weird bubble on torch? Normal?

I've noticed this bubble appear in the center of this torch (CC 21 tails). I can't find much info online about it. Has anyone seen this before? If so, did it eventually go away?

Thanks hopefully that is the case! @RandyC have you seen this in your colony (mine came from yours)?

I haven't seen it in this colony, but I have in different colonies. I think a number of reefers believe that it's because of splitting, but I'm not entirely convinced that's the case. I have seen this in instances where the torch/hammer/frogspawn is no where near splitting as well. I've seen it just before a polyp bailout and I've seen it just before a split.

There's no scientific fact to this statement, but I'd tend to believe this is more likely a reaction to stress or an irritant (which could include stress from splitting). This bubbling is also a behavior you see sometimes in bubble tip anemones as well.

Hopefully, in your case, it is because the torch is splitting.

I see, thanks. It started shortly after I moved it to the current location. Maybe the difference in flow/par triggered it.

I’ve seen that before in this DBTC colony. In my case at least they would just split and it’d go away. I have a picture of another colony doing the same thing. Although I’ve seen torches split without doing the bubble thing so I’m not sure

The man himself! Thanks, good to know it's normal when splitting.
