    Apex Alarms Help

You have an alert set to go off if your calcium is less than 400. Is that not what you want? If you want to turn off the alarms for a specific trident test, hit the inputs icon (looks like a thermometer) and select the element (Calcium in this case) and turn off the alerts or adjust the values...

BRS parting ways with GHL, Hydros, etc

All about the margins. If you assume and read between the lines, BRS wanted more margin points and GHL didn’t want to (or couldn’t) give up. Margins were prolly razor thin and BRS wanted more from selling their parent owned stuff or manufacturers willing to give up some of their margins...

BRS parting ways with GHL, Hydros, etc

CoralVue and Aperture are also fighting for exclusive North American distribution rights of all the manufacturers as well. May have caused some bad blood somewhere along the lines…..

Advice on easiest way to remove and replace sand from DT

If you have enough bio media and rock, you could siphon it all up and temporarily place 5-10lbs in the sump in a container that can be removed after a few weeks. I think there’s a minor risk, but I don’t think it’d be much of an issue - 20lbs isn’t a lot of sand in an IM150 Ext. I’d personally...

    BOLUS vs. Kalkwasser

That doesn’t really support kalk binding with phosphate. For kalk to precipitate and release later on, there would need to be a constant source of phosphate (i.e., food, decaying livestock, etc.). If there had been a source of phosphates and you stopped (e.g., stopped feeding) and the calcium...

    BOLUS vs. Kalkwasser

I’m still at a loss as to why you want to stop using kalk. I think I read somewhere in another thread you mentioned that it can lead to phosphate buildup and subsequent release of phosphate at a later time, but it’s never been proven that that actually happens. For kalk to bind and form calcium...

    Wazzupmac's Money Pit - Red Sea Reefer S-850 G2+

Welcome to Castro Valley. CV has amazingly low TDS tap water, usually in the 40-50s or less. I’d be surprised if the tap was that low at 2 TDS though. Usually after sediment filters and carbon block it’s at 1 or 0.

Sourcing 50 Gallon Lowboy frag tank?

Few tips: - Make a template out of scrap wood or acrylic and clamp it down. Trust me, it will make your life much easier when starting that hole. - Tape the inside side of tank with painters tape to help prevent chipping once you go all the way through. - Let the drill do the grinding, don’t...

Most likely a rainbow loom like @jhuynh said. Not a paletta pink tip. But if you don’t know the source or where it came from, you’ll have to just accept that it’s unnamed.

Neptune Trident NP and new DOS!

It’s just not a good shape. Awkward, takes up a lot of unnecessary space (especially those with 3-4’ cabinets that can barely fit one of these in there). Not stackable. And now you want me to put two of these in? Regarding #2. Don’t think of it replacing your manual testing. You’re paying for...

    Randy’s Innovative Marine 75 Ext

I've had frags come back from the dead. Just need to keep things stable and in normal ranges. There is some rumor manganese may help gonis grow, but no one has ever had any solid evidence. This may help so it isn’t irritated constantly when the worms throw their webs to catch food.
