Mine was the happiest in my old tank where it got medium flow and about 300 PAR. It was nice a spread out. In my current tank it getting more flow than before but tends to look tighter.

I've had issues with cheapo amazon push connect fittings leaking and not being able to hold suction. Try swapping that out and see if it works. If you rough cut that rigid rod, it might have cut the o-ring inside the fitting which can also leak.
