(New) Quanta Lights (ATLAS, Helix) controlled by a Hydros Controller

Maybe an 8020 bar mounted to your beam for structural support (red), then perpendicular bars (orange) attached to that one where you can hang the lights off of. This would allow you to move the perpendicular bars up and down the rail to change the positioning of your lights as needed or if you...

(New) Quanta Lights (ATLAS, Helix) controlled by a Hydros Controller

That's a whole lotta bars! I vote for a hanging fixture or pendant to keep the tank clean. If I recall, you had some ceiling beams that they could mount from.

    Copperband Butterfly feeding when away?

The drawback to freeze dried foods is it tends to float. This syringe trick works great: https://humble.fish/community/threads/using-a-syringe-to-get-freeze-dried-food-to-sink-immediately.19100/ With my Avast Plank auto feeder, I have it dispense into the mixing tube an hour before the...

    Copperband Butterfly feeding when away?

I have freeze dried mysis (SF Bay Brand) on an auto feeder. My copperband is a little bit finicky with them but will take a bite here and there. @derek_SR I believe has had luck with his CBB eating it.

    Banghai Cardinal

Looks like it could be a female but a little hard to tell from pictures. The face is also more slender compared to my male. I'll let you know if I come to the Milpitas area and can pick "her" up, but if anyone else wants to before me then feel free to. Found a clearer pic online of what a male...

    Banghai Cardinal

Are you able to tell if it's a male or female? You have to look up close, the male will have two little black bumps near their pelvis while a female will have one. It's more pronounced after they ate and have a full belly. I have a long time large male that I've wanted to try and introduce a...

    Reef 3D printing request thread

Amazon. They used to be about $0.50 a cup. I got some tall-narrow and some shorter-wider for different types of corals. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09VZCWY2Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Reef 3D printing request thread

I got a 3d printer as a trade for corals. Flashforge Creator Pro. A little older unit and not super fancy but it was a fun, but sometimes frustrating, learning experience. You need to tinker with calibrating parts of the printer, finding the right temperature for the material you're using...

    Salinity still a problem

What salinity tester are you using? Ones that measure conductivity to determine salinity tend to drift over time so need recurring calibration. Like this one: I prefer refractometers since they're easy and free to calibrate with distilled water. Lately I've seen people going back to float...

    Peninsula tank questions

Flow: I had a difficult time with flow when I tried to keep all pumps only on the overflow end, just not turbulent enough with two gyres mounted vertically. I ended up adding two OctoPulse pumps on the viewing end and ran the wires along the light fixture to keep it tidy as possible. See pic...

(New) Quanta Lights (ATLAS, Helix) controlled by a Hydros Controller

Also to consider, the Atlas is preset at 14k color, which I like but maybe not everyone does. I'd also assume based on the led array that it's going to be a blanket of light with no shimmer. Again, all preference. Ugh I wish dim my Quanta Pros like the helix. I have to crank my Kessils to the...

What are you using as your nitrate dosing?

When I had low nutrient issues I used potassium nitrate, purchased in powder form from a freshwater planted aquarium fertilizer supplier. Worked great for me. https://greenleafaquariums.com/products/potassium-nitrate-kno3-1lb-jar.html Calculator here for determining your solution concentration...

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

With a 36" deep tank, I wonder how well it would color blend if you added two blue bars. Might have too much blue at the front and back then a whiter center where the ReeFis are. Guess it'll depend on how far you space out the bars and how high the fixture is. Maybe 4 ReefFis in a square...

    The Mangrove Seahorse Hitching Post

Tank as of today. Transferred all the livestock over and the remaining macro. I had a massive die off but was able to salvage pieces of most of them. It's been about a week and algae growth is waaay more controlled with live rock from my main tank and none of that fake carribsea and cornerstone...

DBTC: UC Japanese Koji Wada Pink Nepthea

Mine was the happiest in my old tank where it got medium flow and about 300 PAR. It was nice a spread out. In my current tank it getting more flow than before but tends to look tighter.

    DIY dosing container

I've had issues with cheapo amazon push connect fittings leaking and not being able to hold suction. Try swapping that out and see if it works. If you rough cut that rigid rod, it might have cut the o-ring inside the fitting which can also leak.

    Alkatronics intake pre-filter alternative

For my calcium reactor and KH Guardian intake, I have the water flow through one of these DI canisters that I stuff with filter floss. Just need to add fittings to each end depending on what size hose you use. https://www.amazon.com/Refillable-Inline-Cartridge-Calcite-Alkaline/dp/B08ZSJZDLD/
