Emergency- alk rising and ph dropping to dangerous level - complete tank crash

I think so. I have 2 2000gph power head at near the top, pointing to the surface plus 1 600gph pump near the dosing tube.

Emergency- alk rising and ph dropping to dangerous level - complete tank crash

All the fishes are accounted for until the night before the crash. I only have 5 fishes, so it’s not hard to keep count. Yeah, restart will be the most likely scenario. I wonder if I should bleach the rock and really start from zero.

Good point. Can I get nsw from Neptune? If not , where I can get NSW? I’m about to throw the towel soon and restart. There are a couple of encrusting coral I cannot easily remove. Otherwise , I will drain and reset. A large colony of monti sentosa and another green monti seems to be...

Tank still cloudy , maybe slight improvement ( can’t tell for sure) Measurement this morning: Alk- 9.1 Ca - 470 Mg 1470 Nitrate - 10 Ph - 7.72 My ca and mg have been historically high. However this is weird as I changed out approximate 80% of the water ( 3x 40% wc) and yet the ca and mg are...

Emergency- alk rising and ph dropping to dangerous level - complete tank crash

There is a lot of good information here. Maybe I missed it . What’s the theory for alk increase without dosing? I understand ph drop - bacteria bloom sucking all the oxygen . Is alk and ph related? Ph drop = alk increase?

My mistake is the following. I remove the skimmer and then increase feeding (because I added anthias). I should have put tue skimmer back but I did not.

The only thing i rely is automatic alk testing. I manually test alk when Alkatronic results seems off before I take any action . I agree with the sentiment in general.

Completed second 40% wc. Mixing the third batch for one last wc for the day. Alk now at 9.4 after 2nd wc. Install a UV. Looks like most acro and monti got impacted the most. Couple of acro, namely Oregon, cali tort, and an unknown pink acro doing ok. Most monti bleached. LPS seems okay...

Emergency- alk rising and ph dropping to dangerous level - complete tank crash

Questions: Looks like sort of bacteria bloom for sure. I read ac alone will not solve the problem. I have a bare bottom with high flow. No dirty substrate. Besides massive wc which I’m doing now, what I should do on the main tank? .

Thanks for the offer. I have a qt setup as well. I’ll get to it tomorrow. I think the clowns should be fine in a 5g bucket for a day.
