BAR meeting October 8th featuring Kevin Kohen

And if you can't get a hold of KK tomorrow please give me a call at 415 716 2596! I will be showing him around CAS tomorrow morning. I'm sure he would very much appreciate a ride to the meeting.

BAR meeting October 8th featuring Kevin Kohen

Tried to hook it up with Patrick B but looks like he can't make the meeting. Jeremy you have Arnold's #? He won't be volunteering here tomorrow but maybe he's going to the meeting?

Hey Bennett, nice looking tank. I can't reply via PM here--try shooting me an email at mwandell@calacademy.org. We can use your blue thumb. Thanks, Matt

    7th SF(area) tank tour...... Sept 25th

Thanks Arnold for putting this together and everyone (especially Jon) for allowing us into your homes. Great tanks and tons of neat ideas shared as usual! And extra thanks to Mike and Bartini for the melons! I think I was most excited by Gusty's Tigriopus culture...definitely starting my own.

    7th SF(area) tank tour...... Sept 25th

Arnold I got the okay to do a tour in the future. Boss said "great idea". So if we want to schedule a CAS visit for the next tank tour let me know.

Good place to window shop for tanks?

Just had a thought! If I can demonstrate that corals can grow and do well in Ocean Beach water...that's interesting ammo. I doubt my little 24g tank will convince anybody of anything, but it will be a fun experiment! Raw surface water is what I mean...we always had "issues" with our OB...

Good place to window shop for tanks?

I'd actually head down there to get water if there's an easy pier or something to drive on to.

    7th SF(area) tank tour...... Sept 25th

So I guess I am just viewing, and I can drive too. Sounds like Patrick B will roll with me. What needs to be brought for the potluck that we're missing? Soda, beer, anything easy?

Good place to window shop for tanks?

Dude, you live in the bay now? How long have you been here? Too funny. I think for now I am going to try using two PAR 38 bulbs since I have them laying around, with gooseneck lamp holders. I will probably be unhappy with it in about a year because I'm aesthetically OCD when it comes to...

    7th SF(area) tank tour...... Sept 25th

I would only do it if you guys wouldn't have to pay to get in (still working on an official "okay"). But it sounds like timewise this might not be the best time to do it. Maybe next tank tour when we have a bit more lead time?

    Yup.

Good place to window shop for tanks?

I don't really buy that argument. It's not a lot of weight, and a single piece of curved glass...I know the manufacturer will tell me otherwise, but I think that's a CYA kinda thing. Mikey, I hear you got a new tank too?

Good place to window shop for tanks?

Thanks Mario. I was in the market for something with straight corners, but I mean, free tank! I actually already have a piece of furniture ready for it to go on too, but I really appreciate the offer. The next step is to see whether the trim can be removed on this baby and leave it nice...

    Tanked - New TV series

Some of the rationalization floating around the boards is staggering: "Dude, that acrylic is TWO INCHES thick...the fish won't even feel a skateboard hitting it." Um, okay...I wonder how I can feel somebody banging their fist through 8" acrylic then... "Obviously they know what they...

Good place to window shop for tanks?

Thanks! I am considering using ocean beach water to fill up my tank. Lunacy? LOL

Good place to window shop for tanks?

Whoo hoo, went to Aquatic Gallery and Bao hooked me up with a used beater 24g JBJ Nanocube. I'm going to remove the lid and hang an LED pendant. First home tank in...over 5 years? Back in the hobby baby!
