    Aeolidiella Stephanieae for Aiptasia control

I remember an employee at another public aquarium (won't say where!) who said this about them: "Oh, they're great. They don't live in reef tanks but I breed them like crazy in these small culture vessels. All I have to do is rotate out Aiptasia covered rocks from my display tanks and they...

    Flame Angel Likes Fish Poop

Very normal. Lots of Centropyge do it in the wild.

    New Aquarium

Looking good Anthony. If you find the extra light rail too distracting or bump your head on it we can chop it off cleanly. What'd you end up using to secure the rail to the conduit?

    Yup. Thanks!

    I killed my blue cloves

Anybody have some they want to part with? I know it sounds crazy but it'd be easy to contain it to one small display. The blue color is amazing.

Tigriopus califoricus - Anyone raised these at home?

Question for everyone: What do you target feed them to? Or do you just intend for them to be a general live food source always present in the tank?

    20G PAR38

There are custom combos, but the two sold by nanocustoms are 3 cool white 2 royal blue sold as "12000K" and 2 CW + 3 RB sold as "20000K". You can also get ones with a red LED thrown in, or all RB, etc.

Squeeze the heat sink fins in the direction they "want" to go. Be careful not to bend them too much. The metal rim on the widest part of the bulb pulls off. It's tricky, but once you figure it out once it's a snap. From there the rest is pretty intuitive.

Anybody use ozone in their reef setup ?

Hi Tony, from what I remember (until somebody tells me I'm wrong), the ozone can react with the halogens when it's dosed too high to form oxidants. Most of these react with stuff quickly but bromate (and maybe some other Br species?) persist. When people talk about total residual oxidants in...

Anybody use ozone in their reef setup ?

That is a really interesting point Tony! Here I thought *geek alert* meant you were going to talk about bromide/bromate/etc...

    Lanthanum Chloride

I avoid its use in reef systems whenever possible. I regret trying it in a reef tank at work. This is probably the only philosophical disagreement I have with Joe Yaiullo. :D My belief (admittedly without any scientific evidence) is that it is a minor stress on certain species of corals...

    20G PAR38

I THINK the PAR38s use all XRE but I would just ask nanotuners. They are quick with their CS. Anthony, at 18" the 40 degree optics will leave you with a tiny fist sized spot with PAR around 500 or so, and then it quickly falls off from there. I think these are designed more for deeper...

Who would you like to see talk at BAYMAC

John McCosker is good at telling yarns about fish. Might not be very informative but very interesting. +1 to Kevin Kohen, Scott Michael, and Dustin Dorton.

    20G PAR38

Standard optics on it are 40s. I have two at my desk--I'm sure you've seen them--with 60 degree optics. I swapped them out because they made too small and too great of a hot spot. Now the spread is much more consistent. I think two with 60 optics about 10-12" above the water would be...

Anybody use ozone in their reef setup ?

Just wanted to reiterate how important this is. If you can smell it, that's bad. Besides your own health, you can start to damage corals at very low overdoses of O3. I'd suggest people interested in dosing ozone to their tank read this informative PP by Andy Aiken of the National...
