    Calcium reactor advice.............

I use kalk in my top off w/o any problems. Keep in mind though I have to use both due to demand, I can throw a ton of Ca/Alk at my tank and it just asks for more as it drops 2-3 dKH in a 24 hr period. The point is it your dosing regimen depends on what your outcome to be. If you want a...

    Calcium reactor advice.............

pH is a value that is more controlled by the ambient CO2 levels, if your buffering capacity is at a reasonable level then pH shouldn't be a number to chase around.

    Calcium reactor advice.............

John, having gone both routes on a number of tanks I find two part to be less reliable and more of a headache than running a 2(3) part system. There are more ways for a 2(3) part system to fail, which IME happens and can kill your tank. I can see dosing two part, even manually, in lower demand...

    Cooking live rock and aptasia......

Cooking the rock will not kill the Aiptasia, it will only cause it to go into hibernation. Aiptasia doesn't need light, it can survive on food alone. If I were in your shoes I'd soak the rock in a strong hot water/bleach solution before cooking, that way you kill the Aiptasia and still...

    Calcium reactor advice.............

If you're looking to pack a system, I'd consider running a Ca reactor in tandem with a kalk reactor. Not only do you get the benefits of both, the kalk reactor helps to maintain a stable high(er) pH.

    Calcium reactor advice.............

I really like the Geos, they are built like tanks and don't have problems with gas buildup, definitely worth the extra $$$. The major difference when dealing with a larger or smaller reactor is the frequency in changing out the media, unless the reactor is woefully undersized then you run...

    Aquarium - where to get?

When they get larger their teeth scratch the tank. Also, I must echo what Phong said, a rimless acrylic tank will most likely cost you more ($1500-2000 for one with thick enough acrylic for minimal deflection) than a stock glass tank without a center brace.

    Aquarium - where to get?

Plus if you plan on having tangs, good luck with the acrylic.

    Aquarium - where to get?

You are looking at dimensions that are standard, don't be afraid to look into stock glass tanks, you may find they are appealing.

4-5, the poor guy is like a Timex. I do think though that he'll be in his current location for a while, it's perfect for a small LFS.

It's Manfred what can I say, he's been around since forever. His fish are always super healthy and fat, coral selection is very basic, it's a really good store for fish (mostly bread and butter stuff).
