Bestest ATO out there: give me opinions, help me not build one

2nd the Red Sea ato. I have had two issues-the one I bought first (even before commercially available due to AC) -the top sensor was busted and the 2nd time the temp sensor went out about a year out. Both times were sent replacements really fast. In between though it has been flawless just...

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

Something like that. My only concern is is that the skimmer body is circular so it wouldn’t have a tight fit -allowing for additional noise to pop through and possibly some other issues..

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

Rather get a manifold to connect the silicon hose to silencer and Venturi and connect in another line for the LC and the hose to the CO2 scrubber if I decide to put it back online.. Getting a new lid is cheap- getting a new body -ehhh.

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

Ok -for the purposes of dosing-can I just drill a hole in the top of the lid right over the middle of the neck and install a quick connect 1/4 inch bulk head? Or is just better to feed into the line between the Venturi and air silencer? I have a RO 150 essence with silicon tube. I can see...

    Lowering phosphate

I use AFR-does not impact nitrates in the least. What I have see impact nitrate reduction is use of carbon dosing products such as nopox or bacto balance. Also microalgae such as ulva that really reduced nitrates and not phosphate much at all. In greater explanation of what knocked nitrates...

    Lowering phosphate

It’s not..but as a professional @Coral reefer who takes care of a lot of tanks -do you see any impact of higher PO4 (maybe above .5) vs. “mid range” (.15 to .49) to “low” at .1-1.49 and ultra low (under .1) The ranges are arbitrary-correct as necessary.

    Lowering phosphate

At the moment nitrates not so low! Shot up like a rocket to 22! But yes for a bit my nitrates had bottomed out and my PO4 was coasting around .6 -I think the byproduct of my sump acting as a faux algae scrubber.

    Lowering phosphate

So here is the link to the video that @Thales presented to MACNA on 2014 on phosphate. And after watching it I do wonder if I am arbitrarily trying to push down phosphates for what reason. Should I leave them as is at .8, or push it down to .1-.5. I also have a lot of SPS and they seem...

    Lowering phosphate

@Ayman- if I can find it I will post it but I was just watching Rich Ross’s video from 10 years ago on phosphate. Quite illuminating. Another option if you have a doser is carbon dosing (not active carbon) - way to reduce phosphate in a controlled manner. You can use a commercial product such...

    Another rant on testing

I will say that I had read this before my morning coffee. Concur with all your opinions on the article (that is trying to sell a product and unknown to number of times they performed analysis on each absorbent material) So I put ChatGPT to work on it and in different places it is cited that...
